Sunset on top of phnom Bakheng

Sunset atop Phnom Bakheng hill.

The top of Phnom Bakheng hill is the best sunset spot in Siem Reap! Why you ask?
The answer is; BECAUSE IT IS!! After exploring the Angkor complex a for good part of the day, tourists should spend an evening watching the sunset from atop Phnom Bakheng hill. From there you can see an amazing sunset view over rice fields and the West Baray water reservoir which supplies the local rice plantations. If you look to the southeast you can see the five towers of Angkor Wat and to the northeast Phnom Bok, built in the reign of Yasovarman 1 in the 9th and 10th centuries after he moved his capital to Angkor. Inside the western entrance, the equinox and summer and winter solstices were observed. The surrounding views are of green fields, rice fields and the amazing Angkor Archaeological Park. I highly recommend that you visit at least one of these beautiful and ancient sites.
